<div><p>For Sarah Thistlethwaite, a mathematics teacher, Mother's Day 2014 was a very memorable occasion. She and her husband Bill, welcomed a rare set of twin babies at Akron General Medical Center in Ohio.</p><p>The 'mono-mono' twins, shared an amniotic sack, a phenomenon that happens in about one in 10,000 twin pregnancies and could even lead to the death of the babies. </p><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p>To add to their miracle, the twins held hands as soon as they met each other outside of the womb. "They were born 45 seconds apart," said Amy Kilgore, a hospital spokesperson. "Once they made sure they were OK, they held them up so mom and dad could see. As soon as they were side by side, they held hands. The girls will turn 3 years old in May and they appear to be the best of friends! "Sometimes if my husband goes to the store, he'll take one twin and I'll keep the other," says Sarah. "When that happens, they both get really upset and ask for each other. They're definitely really close. "They like the same foods, they both love swimming and being outside, and they love to play with the same toys," says Sarah.
