Undeclared Allergen Causes Mass Frozen Meal Recall

<div><p>Blount Fine Corp. has issued a high health risk recall for one of their frozen meal varieties.</p><p>The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) <a href="https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/wcm/connect/FSIS-Content/internet/main/topics/recalls-and-public-health-alerts/recall-case-archive/archive/2017/recall-043-2017-release">confirmed</a> that the recall was issued due to "misbranding and an undeclared allergen" which was allegedly reported by a consumer.</p><p>The products in question are the Beef Chile Colorado frozen meals manufactured by the Texas -based company. </p><p>The recall affects approximately 8,685 pounds of the 10oz meals that contain cheese enchiladas with undeclared milk as an ingredient on the label. </p><div><figure><amp-img src="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/beef-frozen-food-recall.jpg" srcset="https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/beef-frozen-food-recall_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w, https://www.shared.com/content/images/2017/05/beef-frozen-food-recall_GH_content_650px.jpg 650w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img></figure></div><p>The items were produced on November 23, 2016 and were shipped to Pennsylvania and Texas. The package reads: <strong>"SAFFRON ROAD BEEF CHILE COLORADO WITH MESQUITE BLACK BEANS &amp; GARLIC RICE" with "Best By" dates of May 23, 2018.</strong></p><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p>No illnesses have been reported yet but FSIS is urging everyone who have purchased these meals to throw them out or return them back to where they were purchased. </p><p>If you have any questions, you can "Ask Karen," the FSIS virtual customer service representative at <a href="https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal/informational/askkaren" target="_blank">AskKaren.gov</a>.
