'Young And The Restless' Star Hospitalized For Suicidal Crisis

Despite being a successful actor and star of the highest rated daytime show, Kristoff St John has been dealt a rough hand over the last few years.

St John, who plays Neil Winters on The Young and The Restless, lost his 24-year-old son, Julian, in 2014 after he committed suicide while getting treatment at a hospital in Long Beach, California.

"Our son was the light of our lives, an artist with a beautiful mind and spirit," Julian's mom and St John's ex-wife, Mia, wrote in a statement shortly after her son's death. "He fought long and hard against an illness for which there is no cure."

The grieving father filed a wrongful death suit against the hospital for failing to protect his son, who battled Schizophrenia and was considered a high risk patient.

It's been nearly three years since Julian's untimely departure, and St John has been struggling to come to terms with his loss. In an interview with ET Online, the actor said that he was "still angry."

Unfortunately, the situation appears to have escalated.

On October 19, TMZ reported that the Emmy-award winning actor was transported to the hospital after he allegedly threatened to kill himself.

According to multiple reports, the actor had allegedly threatened to commit suicide with a gun just a month shy of his son's death anniversary.

St John allegedly sent photos of himself holding a gun to his head to a former lover, who then alerted the cops.

Upon their arrival, police confiscated two guns and took Kristoff to a hospital, where he is currently being held under a 72-hour mental evaluation.

Initial reports indicated that it was St John's ex-wife who tipped off the authorities, but her representative went on record to confirm that she had nothing to do with the situation.

Although heartbroken, both St John and Mia have been trying to raise awareness for mental health. Mia even started a foundation called El Saber es Poder, which means "Knowledge is Power."

St John has also taken to social media on a few occasions to share tributes to his son and celebrate his life.

Neither parties have released a statement on the recent developments, but we're glad St John is getting the help he needs during this difficult time.
