Martha's Vineyard is known for being a favorite summer destination for wealthy––from actors to entrepreneurs and politicians. Diane Sawyer, Michael J. Fox and Meg Ryan are just a few celebrities who own homes on the vineyard. More recently, the Obamas joined their ranks.

Barack and Michelle Obama, who often spend time in the area, recently snagged a permanent property on the island. The former president of the United States and the best-selling author are now the owners of a nearly 7,000-square foot estate that once belonged to Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck.

Barack and Michelle acquired the home for $11.75 million, which is significantly cheaper than the listed price of $14.85 million. According to reports, the couple have had their eyes on the 29-acre property for a while. They even rented it last summer.

The listing reveals that the house is located on Edgartown Great Pond and offers scenic views of the water. The property also has a pool and a large green space.

Inside, the house boasts seven bedrooms, including a master suite with a balcony and 8.5 bathrooms. There's a modern Chef's kitchen, a dinning room, a porch with a fireplace, a living room and an entertainment area.

This is the second home on the island that the Obamas have purchased. Over the last few years, the family spent their summers at Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark Pond. They eventually put up the property on sale  for $15 million before buying the latest mansion.

The new property isn't Michelle and Barack's only post-White House home. After his presidency ended, Barack and his family moved into an $8.1 million house in D.C's Kalorama neighbourhood. The couple wanted to remain the area so that their youngest daughter, Sasha, could finish high school.
