The Bible teaches us everything we need to know about living a happy and godly life. The Holy Book tells us about the life which Jesus and his apostles led so we can try our utmost to mirror him and use his teachings to inspire our actions.
One way to ensure that you're living as the best version of yourself is by having the right people in your life. The Bible reassures believers that being around good people has some wonderful benefits and blessings.
Unfortunately, we live in a world where everyone is not good and sometimes these bad people infiltrate our lives disguised as "friends." You may not think much of it initially, but as time passes you'll start to see why you're better without such destructive individuals.
People fuelled by evil can put you in harm's way by providing you with ungodly counsel. It is important to spend time with those who influence you positively and help you stay on the right path that God set out for you.
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf will not wither, and whatever he does will prosper." "“ Psalm 1:1-3
According to the above Bible verse, if you want to live your best life, there are 3 types of people you shouldn't associate with - the ungodly, sinners and scoffers.
1. The Ungodly
The ungodly will led you down a path of immorality because they have no fear of God. These "wicked" people can never find peace within themselves and they could drag you down with them.
Although we are all sinners whose salvation is through Jesus, we should avoid being around habitual sinners so we don't add to the load by committing further transgressions against divine law. By keeping away from sinners, it becomes easier to lead a sin-free lifestyle and thinking.
Also known as mockers, these are the kind of people that are too consumed with their pride, arrogance and "sinful desires." The Bible has a lot to say about scoffers describing them as "abomination to men" who can't stand to receive criticism or rebuke. Once you cut a scoffer out of your life, you will notice some positive changes right away.
"Drive out a scoffer, and strife will go out, and quarreling and abuse will cease." - Proverbs 22:10.
So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, it is very important to choose your friends wisely for they will help you stand in good stead before God.
