7 Things We've Learned About Stormy Daniels That Aren't About The Scandal

CBS

For the past couple of months, news about Stormy Daniels has been plastered on every single media outlet.

According to The New York Times Daniels's parents divorced when she was "about four," and was raised primarily by her mother in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Even though she raised by a single parent, it's been claimed she has neither spoken to her mother or father in about 10 years.

Born Stephanie Clifford in 1979, the 39-year-old adult film star has made a name for herself long before she became one of the most well-known public figures of 2018.

She decided to pick her stage name based on a childhood moniker, and then chose the last name Daniels after seeing a billboard that dubbed Jack Daniels whiskey as "a Southern favorite."

"Up until this, if someone called me Stephanie, I thought you were the IRS," Daniels said in an interview with Rolling Stone. "No one calls me Stephanie. My own child doesn't even know that Stephanie is my name."

The award-winning actress, producer, and screenwriter was nominated for "Director of the Year" at the 2017 adult-film awards shows, adding her total nominations for the year to a staggering 17.

Now since you all know what Daniels is known for, here are seven wild facts about her you didn't know.

1. Stormy has a daughter

In 2011, Daniels gave birth to her daughter with her partner Glendon Crain. While she rarely posts pictures of her only child on social media, she isn't shy to discuss her fulfilling home life.

"We have this smart, amazing, beautiful daughter that is awesome. The three of us go to Gymboree class for music. He (Crain) is great with our daughter because he has no problems doing anything with her that I do. He will take her to the bathroom in a restaurant and change a dirty diaper," Daniels said in a 2012 interview with The Daily Beast.

"We get up and watch Sesame Street every morning. I make her breakfast, and we hang out and are goofy for a while. Then we go out and run errands," she added. "I try to do something fun with her every day. I just consider myself to be especially blessed, and people who knock porn, well, it affords me to be with my daughter."

However, because Daniels is a public figure, she and her daughter have become targets of violent threats.

"I was in a parking lot, going to a fitness class with my infant daughter. T-- taking, you know, the seats facing backwards in the backseat, diaper bag, you know, gettin' all the stuff out," Daniels said in an interview with 60 Minutes.

"And a guy walked up on me and said to me, 'Leave Trump alone. Forget the story.' And then he leaned around and looked at my daughter and said, 'That's a beautiful little girl. It'd be a shame if something happened to her mom.' And then he was gone," she said, addressing the time she was almost featured in a 2011 expose with In Touch Magazine.

2. She's acted in more than just adult films

While it's widely assumed Stormy has only starred in adult films, Daniels has actually appeared in major films such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up. In 2007 also made a cameo on FX's Dirt, which starred Courteney Cox.

In the same year, Daniels appeared as a stripper in Maroon 5's music video for their hit song, "Wake Up Call."

Due to her successful career in the spotlight, Daniels has earned her a net worth estimated at a cool $2 million. Until January, she was signed with production company, Wicked Pictures, which gave her an annual salary of $250,000.

3. Stormy's been married three times

Before she settled down with her current husband, Daniels had been married twice before.

Her first marriage was with fellow adult film actor and director Pat Myne in 2003. The pair shortly divorced two years later. In 2007, she tied the knot with adult film art director and producer Michael Mosny (stage name Mike Moz), but the two would also part ways in 2009.

But, her lackluster love life wouldn't last long, as Daniels finally found happiness with Crain, whose real name is Brendan Miller, in 2010.

4. She's been arrested for domestic violence

In 2009, it was reported Daniels charged with a domestic violence misdemeanor following an alleged vicious fight over Moz's inability to do laundry, and the fact he failed to pay a bill "that she had given him money to pay."

According to a police report, Daniels, who was living in Tampa, Florida at the time, "told cops that she did not intentionally hit her husband, but acknowledged tossing a potted plant in the kitchen sink, throwing the couple's wedding album on the floor, and breaking some candles."

Even though the plant reportedly whacked Moz in the head, she was released after paying a $1,000 bond and hasn't been charged with throwing any succulents since.

5. She considered running for U.S. Senate

In 2009, Daniels considered running against David Vitter for the U.S. Senate in Louisiana. In 2007, the then-Senator was riddled with his "D.C. Madam" scandal, which accused him philandering with prostitutes.

"I have never said that I'm the best person for the job. I absolutely am not," Daniels told a Baton Rouge TV station at the time. "I just think I'm a better choice than the senator they already have."

For the next year, the then 30-year-old registered as a Republican, and went on "listening tours" throughout Louisiana in a bid to unseat Vitter.

"I'm not one to judge someone's sexual activity, but what annoys me is that he's [Vitter] so hardcore "˜family values,' and he puts his wife and kids out there, saying he's a Christian family man. Then he's caught up in a prostitution scandal. He's a hypocrite," Daniels told Marie Claire. "I have nothing to hide. A sex tape of me isn't going to pop up and shame me. There are 150 of them at the video store."

But, despite setting up an exploratory committee to look into a potential political career, Daniels ultimately made the decision not to run, blaming her decision on the media's inability to take her seriously and the expensive cost of running for a senate seat.

6. The mother-of-one is a champion equestrian

According to Rolling Stone, Daniels is a nationally ranked equestrian, who owns seven horses, including a pony for her daughter.

Riding under the name Stormy Crain, she often posts pictures with her favorite horse, Ziggy Star Rocker who she rides in the majority of her equestrian competitions

However, Daniels suffered from a back injury following a show-jumping accident last year, which caused her to take time off work.

7. A cocktail has been named after her

Following Daniels's increased presence in the public eye, a bar in Washington, D.C. took the initiative to name a drink after her.

The Brighton announced the the new alcoholic beverage in mid-January to ride the coattails of the public figure's rising popularity.

"We don't know much about politics, but we do know a dirty cocktail when we see one," the bar wrote on Twitter. "Introducing the Stormy Daniels, $9 all weekend long."

"It's a delightfully delicious southern-American style 'Dark and Stormy' with Jack Daniels instead of rum," the bar's manager, Chris Janiak, told TheWrap. "It's really delicious."
