Casey Anthony is planning to make a movie called 'As I Was Told' based on her life, she has revealed to DailyMail.com.
Americans were glued to their TV screens when the story of a missing 2-year-old girl from Florida gradually turned into a murder case with a shocking conclusion. But what ever happened to Casey Anthony, the woman at the center of the decade's biggest true crime story?
The Case As We Know It
When 2-year-old Caylee Anthony from Orlando, Florida vanished in June 2008, the hunt to find her quickly became national news. But a number of strange details made this different from most missing child cases. For one thing, Caylee had been missing for more than a month before her grandmother, Cindy Anthony, called the police to report her disappearance.
And it was soon revealed that Caylee's mother Casey wasn't a typical grieving parent. During the month of Caylee's disappearance she partied at nightclubs, got a tattoo, and used a friend's stolen checkbook to go on a shopping spree.
Soon after the search for Caylee began, her remains were found in a wooded area less than a mile from Anthony's home, and Anthony was charged with the first degree murder of her daughter.
Anthony had been charged with first degree murder, aggravated child abuse and manslaughter. If she was convicted, she could have expected to face the death penalty. But after 10 hours of deliberation, the jury found her not guilty of those very serious charges.
For the most part Anthony has lived a quiet life since then until news broke that she was making a film. Casey told Daily Mail she does not want to make money from the movie:
'I could care less what people think of me. I just feel my truth needs to be out of me. I need to close the book'
'As long as I get my side out so I can rest. I have spent years hearing other sides of what they believe to be true.'
The movie is called 'As I Was Told' because I'd done what I was told to do. I had to put on a fake persona.
'A normal me is to go to bars. However, I didn't go to many bars, those pictures the media have are from my life before Cays was even born...and while she was still with us.
Casey then reveals that this won't be big blockbuster movie. It will be a low-grade film. She met with unnamed filmmakers over this past Memorial Day weekend to discuss details.
It will begin when she discovers she is pregnant with Caylee and include many flashbacks and get a little racey at times.
'There will be sex scenes. My character with different men, mainly sexual. It will show partying drinking days leading up to my pregnancy. It is all confusing, then the day I conceive..moving forward with that.'
The movie will be made by amateurs theatre groups and shot in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. While this will be the first project for the filmmakers they have appeared in movies before. Anthony tells the Daily Mail: 'They say they have helped in some, but never really done one for themselves.
There is one area of the movie that they could not agree upon. The filmmakers wanted the actress playing Casey Anthony to be shot at the place in the woods where Caylee Anthony was discovered.
Casey Anthony says she plans to include details about her partying life which have never been revealed before. She is also well aware that while she got a not guilty verdict - she has been branded guilty in the court of public opinion.
