This week fans of the Bachelor franchise got to experience the sweetest proposal yet. One could even say this was the sweetest proposal in all of Bachelor history.

Country singer, Chris Lane proposed to his girlfriend, former bachelor alum, Lauren Bushnell. Fans got to witness the proposal in Chris’s new song Big, Big Plans. This song as you may guess was written for Lauren.

The video for this song starts off with Chris introducing the song to Lauren and then asking her if she is okay with him playing it for her with cameras recording. The video then takes fans through a video montage of Lauren in different aspects of her life. For example, at home with Chris, on tour with Chris, at various family gatherings, etc.

As these scenes progress they are followed by lyrics such as, “she don’t know I already bought a ring. Hid it in the bottom left drawer right beside the sink. A shiny emerald diamond on a brand-new band. Asked her mama for permission and her daddy for her hand. I got some big, big plans…” The video then ends with Chris getting down on one knee and proposing.

When asked about the proposal Chris told People, “I knew she wouldn’t want some elaborate crazy proposal,” he continued. “So, I decided to keep it pretty casual. I asked her parents for different places in Portland I could potentially take her to, but after a lot of thought I decided doing it at the family cookout would be the most laid-back setting and that she’d appreciate the simplicity of me proposing to her in her parents’ backyard.”

Although everyone is excited for both Chris and Lauren many fans are left wondering what does former fiance and Bachelor star Ben Higgins have to say about all this.

Well Ben did comment on the engagement in his podcast Almost Famous, he explained, “Ultimately, we left that relationship, both of us, I think, saying, I hope life brings you a ton of joy, I don’t want you upset and alone forever. I hope you find a partner as soon as possible. I hope everything that you want in this world that’s healthy and good is given to you,’” he explained. “And that’s exactly how I feel. So ……. Lauren, congratulations!”

He continued to exclaim,“ We’re thrilled for you. You found a man that you love without any pressure and in a moment, after dating for a long time, you have said [yes] to spending your life with him and I could not be more excited for you. I want nothing but joy and everything you ever wanted that our relationship would’ve have brought you and Chris. Congratulations.”

Although, he did have one more wish for both himself and Lauren he told fans, “I hope for Lauren and myself, is that my life isn’t as closely tied to Lauren anymore. I hope that people aren’t reaching out,” he said. “I hope this is a chapter being closed completely because I don’t know Lauren anymore and my life isn’t tied to her.”

Well said Ben! I am happy to hear that he is supporting Lauren through this happy time and I congratulate Lauren and Chris on their engagement.
