Doctors Can't Explain How Girl's Brain Tumor Miraculously Disappeared

In August, things seemed hopeless for a 10-year-old girl named Roxli Doss.

Her parents told local news in Buda, Texas that they were "praying for a miracle," as doctors said a tumor on Roxli's brain was inoperable.

Roxli's parents, Scott and Gena,  took her to the doctor earlier this year for a nagging headache which turned out to be much more serious. The tumor on her brain, a rare form called diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), is known for being aggressive and incurable.

"It was the worst news we could have had," Scott told KVUE.

With no hope for a surgery to remove the growth, the people of Buda prayed for Roxli, and organized fundraisers to cover her medical expenses, hoping to buy the little girl some more time.

"The doctors guide us," Scott said at the time. "but really the true guidance that we're looking for is from God because that's who we need our help from right now, and we're really just praying for a miracle."

Now, it seems somebody up there was listening.

Four months later, doctors say that Roxli's tumor has vanished, and they are at a loss to explain how or why it happened.

After Roxli, now 11, underwent radiation treatments, an MRI revealed her tumor had shrunk to an undetectable size, which one doctor called "really unusual."

Doctors say they double-checked Roxli's results to be positive she's healthy, and are continuing other treatments just to be safe. But her case is still a head-scratcher, since doctors at five hospitals agreed her tumor was DIPG.

Still, it's obvious the result it no fluke, since Roxli is back to her old self, and riding horses like she did before her illness.

For Scott and Gena, there's no doubt that God was listening to their prayers for a miracle.

"And we got it," Gena said.

"Praise God," Scott added.

The Doss family is still fundraising for Roxli's medical bills, and other costs associated with her treatment.
