Cat Waited 400 Days To Be Adopted, But His Patience Finally Paid Off

Sometimes it takes a lot of patience to meet the person who's perfect for you, but it's definitely worth the wait.

Champas, a stray cat who was rescued by the Animal Welfare League in Sidney, Australia, found that out the hard way. He arrived at that shelter last December and until last month he was still waiting to find his forever home.

In total, Champas spent 436 days waiting to be adopted, even though the shelter staff went to some impressive lengths to find him a good home.

There were people interested in adopting Champas, but he wasn't a very social cat. While he stayed in the shelter, lots of other cats and dogs were adopted.

Eventually, things started to seem hopeless. To help Champas practice his social skills, the shelter made him their office cat. They even made him a dating profile, hoping to attract attention to him.

While their plan to find Champas a new owner by Valentine's day didn't work, a few days later they got some good news. After his long wait a man named Nathan came to adopt Champas.

Now Champas is settling in at his new home, but he still has some work to do on his social skills.

"He came home with me today, and after biting my hand, went straight to sleep," Nathan told BuzzFeed.
