For most of us regular people, when the topic of insurance is brought up, we tend to think about home, auto, life, health and travel coverage. After all, these are the important policies that the average person needs to protect themselves in the case of any emergency events.

But did you know that there are specialty insurance companies that provide coverage for bizarre things such as body parts and alien abductions? That's right. Wealthy individuals, including Hollywood celebrities, have enlisted companies like Lloyd's of London to underwrite some of the most outrageous insurance policies for them.

From Julia Roberts' dazzling $30 million smile to Kim Kardashian's $21 million derriere, here are 14 celebrities who insured parts of their bodies for insane amounts of money.

1. Julia Roberts

You can't really put a price on a great smile, unless you're Julia Roberts. The Pretty Woman star reportedly insured her pearly whites for $30 million. The amount may seem outrageous, but imagine a world without the actress's radiant smile?

At his prime, "It's Not Unusual" singer Tom Jones used to be regarded as a sex symbol. While some people swooned over the Welsh crooner's smooth voice and striking blue eyes, others were fixated on the hair on his body. In fact, Jones' chest hair was so popular that he took out a $7 million policy for it.

3. David Lee Roth

In 2013, Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth opened up about one of the weirdest insurance policies ever. The rock 'n roll star told HuffPost Live's Alyona Minkovski that he previously insured his penis––nicknamed Little Elvis by his bandmates––for a million dollars. Roth purchased the Lloyd's of London insurance in the 1980s to protect himself from paternity lawsuits.

4. Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton, the queen of country music, is known for her vocals, poignant lyrics and big breasts. In the past, the "Jolene" singer has admitted to having implants, and they seem to be holding up just fine. But in the case something goes awry, she's insured them for $600,000.

As one of the world's top guitarists, Keith Richards' fingers are among is most prized possessions. The Rolling Stones legend reportedly insured the middle finger on his left hand for $1.6 million.

6. Shirley Maclaine

Shirley Maclaine has been very vocal about her beliefs in the existence of extraterrestrial beings. Over the years, the Steel Magnolias actress has openly spoken about alien encounters and UFO sightings. Maclaine is convinced that there's a possibility she could get abducted by aliens some day, so she took out a $25 million policy in case such an event occurs.

7. Jennifer Lopez

Triple threat Jennifer Lopez has one of the most coveted behinds in Hollywood. The singer, actress and dancer's derriere is not only more famous than her voice, it's worth a lot more too. According to various media outlets, the "Jenny from the Block" singer's butt is insured for a whopping $27 million.

8. Bruce Springsteen

There's no doubt that Bruce Springsteen's voice is special, and he definitely knows it. The Boss' voice is reportedly insured with specialty insurance provider Lloyd's of London. If anything were to happen to the "Born to Run" singer's vocal chords, he'd get a $6 million payout.

9. Mariah Carey

Everything about self-proclaimed diva Mariah Carey screams expensive, and I'm not just talking about her designer outfits or multi-million dollar properties. The "Vision of Love" singer's vocals and legs are valued at a total of $70 million, according to an insurance policy she took out ahead of her 2016 Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour.

Speaking of expensive gams, it is reported that Tina Turner, Heidi Klum and Taylor Swift have insured their legs for $3.2 million, $4 million and $40 million, respectively.

10. David Beckham

In 2006, soccer superstar David Beckham made headlines when he took out what is considered one of the largest personal insurance policies in sport history. The $195 million policy not only protected his legs, feet and toes, it also covered the British athlete-turned-model in case of disfigurement.

11. John "Papa John" Schnatter

Given that John Schantter's "pizza maker's touch" is the key ingredient to the success of his pizza chain, it makes sense for him to go to great lengths to keep his hands protected. The Papa John's founder's precious digits are insured for $15.4 million under a custom-made policy by Lloyd's of London.

Celebrities insuring their precious body parts isn't a new concept. Long before stars like Julia Roberts and Dolly Parton began insuring their body parts, Bette Davis made sure she'd receive a paycheck even if studios turned her down for putting on weight. At the peak of her career, the late Warner Bros. star took out a $28,000 policy to protect her waistline. Today, her coverage would be worth approximately $2 million.

13. Gene Simmons

Kiss frontman Gene Simmons' tongue has been subjected to all kinds of rumours, including the fact that it might have been surgically enhanced. While this speculation isn't true, reports that he bought insurance coverage for his iconic organ are based on facts. In the 1970s, the rocker did indeed take out a $1 million policy for his unusually lengthy tongue.

14. Kim Kardashian

While it is has been long rumoured that Kim Kardashian's most popular physical asset isn't natural, it didn't stop her from making sure it is protected. The reality star and beauty mogul has reportedly insured her money maker for $21 million.
