Chick-Fil-A Unveils Four Dishes That Almost Made Their Menu

Chick-fil-A has fast become many Americans' favorite fast-food place. It seems like it really burst onto the scene just a few years ago, but now it's the third largest chain of franchises in America.

We all know they have delicious chicken - and don't even get me started on those waffle fries - but there's a lot more to the Chick-fil-A menu than that. They have delicious sandwiches, fresh-baked biscuits, and even incredible breakfasts.

You can't have that many tasty meals without making a few duds though right?

In a recent blog post, Chick-fil-A shed some light on some strange choices that almost made their menu.

Chicken Quesadilla

Chick-fil-a

This one isn't very strange and actually sounds delicious.

Made with Chick-fil-A Chicken Nuggets, cheese and the breakfast burrito tortilla, the chicken quesadilla didn't even require any extra ingredients. It should have been a slam dunk for the chain. So what went wrong?

"We have certain criteria every potential menu item must meet before it's added to our menu," said Chef Shona Jonson.

While the quesadilla tasted great, it took too long to make. Chick-fil-A says they themselves on their speed of service, so the quesadilla was cut from the line-up.

Rosemary Garlic Flatbread Wrap

Chick-fil-a

The rosemary garlic flatbread wrap actually made its way into taste testing in Memphis, Orlando and Myrtle Beach, so some of you might have given this a try. You probably had no idea it was actually a Chick-fil-A option though because it was only used in blind taste tests.

"It was very polarizing," said Jonson. "There were lovers and there were haters."

This wrap was actually the first wrap the restaurant tried and they eventually struck gold with the Grilled Chicken Cool wrap.

Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls

My mouth watered just typing that.

Using their super popular biscuit dough and adding cinnamon, butter, and sugar, Chick-fil-A created the Biscuit Cinnamon Roll.

It's hard to think of a reason that this wouldn't have made it on the menu, but Chef Christy Cook told us why.

"Even though the recipe was simple, it was surprisingly complex to make across all our restaurants," she said. "Customers loved how it tasted, but because we couldn't prepare it fresh in our restaurant kitchens each morning and get it right every time, we cut it."

We should start a petition to bring these back.

Cranberry Orange Bagel

Chick-fil-a

This is the biggest question mark on the list.

The square-shaped cranberry orange bagel was a breakfast item served with a breakfast chicken fillet and cream cheese on the side. This almost made it to the big time back in 2006.

"It was just so far out there, ahead of its time," said Cook. "Often that's what happens. The market isn't ready for it."

Those who have tried it called it delicious, but I think if Chick-fil-A is waiting for the market to be ready, they might be waiting awhile.

What item would you have wanted to see make the cut?
