The Trailer Is Here - Get Your First Look At The 'Downton Abbey' Movie

PBS

It's short, and silent, but for devoted fans of Downton Abbey, the teaser trailer for the upcoming movie is a real treat.

After six seasons of must-watch TV, the Crawleys left the airwaves with an impressive and record-setting 69 Emmy nominations, plus millions of devoted fans.

Next year, they'll make a long-awaited return on the big screen, in a feature-length film that picks up where the hit show left off.

Details are scarce in the new trailer - which actually mixes in footage from past seasons - but we know that the film will focus on the Crawleys and their servants at the turn of the century, just like in the series.

The most important detail is that most of the show's original cast, including Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, Hugh Bonneville, and fan-favorite Maggie Smith are all reprising their roles.

The show's creator, Julian Fellowes, has also written the film's script, so it's sure to satisfy Downton fans who have missed the show's intrigue, drama, romance, and period details.

A full trailer will reveal more details about the movie's plot sometime soon. Until then, mark September 20th on your calendar, and start rewatching the show so you'll be ready for the big day.
