Have Another Cup: People Who Drink The Most Coffee Live The Longest

Planet earth practically runs on coffee: it takes 2.25 billion cups each day to keep this big ol' world of ours running, and if you're responsible for drinking a few of those just to get your morning started, we have some good news.

We already know that coffee is one of the best things you can drink, because it helps pretty much every part of your body. Anyone who needs a few cups to wake up can tell you that coffee gives you energy, but it also improves your mood, memory, and reaction times.

Now, a massive study of coffee lovers from the U.S., UK and Japan has uncovered even more benefits to waking up with a cup of Joe (or 3).

The new study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, includes surveys of coffee drinkers from around the world that compared their health throughout the years.

The good news is that across the board the group that drank the most coffee (about 3 cups per day) had a significant drop in mortality compared to light coffee drinkers and people who don't drink at all. Simply put, coffee seems to help you live longer.

Coffee seems to reduce your risk for everything from circulatory diseases and digestive problems to liver disease. Women who drink lots of coffee also seem to have a lower risk of ovarian cancer.

The best part is these results apply to whatever kind of coffee you drink (the caffeine and antioxidants are the important part) and even decaf drinkers get some of the benefits.

Professor David Spiegelhalter from Cambridge University says "an extra cup of coffee every day would on average extend the life of a man by around three months, and a woman by around a month."

Sounds like a deal to me!
