Jodi Huisentruit was a television News Anchor for a local news station in Mason City, Iowa, until her disappearance on June 27, 1995. She had told her colleague that she was on her way to work, but she never arrived. Police investigated and found signs of a struggled outside of her apartment, but they were never able to find her, or her body. In 2001, she was officially declared dead.

The last person to have seen Jodi alive was John Vansice. He had been a close friend of Jodi's. He claimed to have been at her house the night before she disappeared showing her a movie of the birthday party he had thrown her earlier in the month. It has recently come to light that in 2017, a search warrant was served against Vansice as police wanted to check his GPS data.

Police refuse to release any information about the search warrant that was served but has confirmed that one was served. The records will remain sealed until October, but at that time, police will be able to extend the seal. In the meantime, Jodi's friends and family hope that this could be the break the case has been waiting for, as they could surely not have gotten a search warrant without new and compelling evidence.
