When Macaulay Made It Big

Macaulay Culkin got his start in Hollywood in 1988's Rocket Gibraltar but rose to stardom in Uncle Buck and Home Alone. After his quick rise to fame, his parents greedily fought for control of the child and his fortune, causing a huge rift in his personal life and relationships. In 2004, Culkin was arrested in Oklahoma after police found 17.3 grams of pot, along with a couple of prescription drugs that he did not have a prescription for. He received a one-year deferred sentence on each count.

What Ever Happened To That Home Alone Kid?

Although most Americans have admitted to smoking pot at one time or another, Culkin was publicly shamed for his drug use and he has not returned to acting. Aside from a book release and sparse appearances in random videos, Culkin grabbed media attention in the 2010s when paparazzi photos of him looking gaunt and unhealthy surfaced. Because no one knows what he's been up to, many assumed he'd entered a life of heavy drug use. But these days, Culkin might tell you that is far from the truth. If anything, he's just been doing his own thing, deliberately out of the spotlight.

The Truth About Culkin's Adult Life

In 2016, Macaulay Culkin sat down with The Guardian to dispell some of the rumors saying, "[No], I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month or whatever." He went on to express his dismay at the media's fascination with him. In his adult life, Culkin hasn't been doing anything for attention, but rather just doing things that he is interested in. He has had small roles in films and other projects. He has also been in a Velvet Underground cover band called Pizza Underground, but it has since disbanded. As of 2017, Culkin has been spotted with a cleaned up look and is rumored to be starring in a film alongside Seth Green and Brenda Song.

When A Star Burns Too Bright Too Soon

If you are a Terminator 2: Judgment Day fan, then you know remember the character John Connor played by Edward Furlong. Between 1991 and 1993, he won several awards for various roles. In 1998 he appeared in Pecker and American History X. When he was just 15, Furlong became romantically involved with his 29-year-old tutor, and he filed for emancipation at the age of 16. The couple split in 1998 after six years together and she claimed that he physically abused her. Soon after their split, Furlong's career headed down a steady decline.

Furlong Turns Furiously Violent

There were numerous allegations of alcohol and drug abuse along with several arrests for domestic violence. He was married in 2006, and then divorced in 2009. His ex-wife later filed a restraining order against him, which he violated twice. He was arrested yet again for domestic violence in 2012 and again in 2013 for violence against another girlfriend. She also filed a restraining order that he violated twice. In July of 2013, he was able to avoid jail by agreeing to a 90-day stay in rehab and a year's worth of domestic violence counseling.

A Poster Child For Child Stars Gone Bad?

Many people know Lindsay Lohan has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons lately but they also don't remember how it all started. Lohan began her career as a fashion model at the age of 3. In 1998, Lohan got her big break as the twins in Disney's remake of The Parent Trap when she was only 11. Then after starring in 2004's Mean Girls, Lohan became a popular Hollywood actress. With more and more popular roles, Lohan was at the height of her popularity. But that only meant it was harder to keep a clean image.

Lohan Gets Caught Up With The Law

Sometimes, becoming a big name actress means you became a massive target for the tabloids and paparazzi. In 2006, Lohan attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and went to rehab for 30 days. She was then arrested for DUI, and two weeks later, she was arrested again for DUI, driving without a license, and cocaine possession. Things only continued to get worse for Lohan. In August of 2006, she pleaded guilty to various charges and entered rehab later that month. Since all of her legal troubles, things have been pretty downhill for this troubled actress.

She Was Left To Bite The Dust

Jaimee Foxworth rose to fame as a child star for her role as Judy Winslow on the popular TV sitcom Family Matters. She was written out of the series after the fourth season when Foxworth had asked for a raise. After leaving Family Matters, Foxworth started a short-lived band called "S.H.E." The band didn't have a lot of success and coupled with being ousted from the cast of Family Matters, Foxworth's career was sent into serious decline. In addition to suffering from substance abuse and depression, Foxworth took desperate measures to earn money.

Foxworth's Blessing In Disguise

Foxworth then turned to the adult film industry to make some quick money and starred in several porn films under the screen name "Crave." In 2008, she appeared on the reality show Celebrity Rehab, and later that year became pregnant. After some legal trouble with her boyfriend, Michael Shaw, she decided to give him another chance and they have been raising their son together since. The birth of her son also prompted her to wean herself off drugs and alcohol, telling Oprah in 2014, "I started thinking to myself, "˜When your son is 2 months old, how are you going to be able to smoke weed and occasionally drink and still be able to function day-to-day? ...I was like, "˜If you just give me the healthiest son, I will stop today.'"

Everyone's Childhood Heartthrob

Jeremy Jackson starred in a successful Mattel commercial when he was just six years old. When he was just 11, Jackson landed his iconic role as Hobie Buchannon on the 1990s TV hit show Baywatch. He was a regular character on Baywatch for nine years but he left the show due to his drug problem.

Jeremy Jackson The Ripper

When Jackson was just 20 years old, he was arrested during a methamphetamine raid and thusly checked himself into rehab and he emerged clean. He has devoted himself to fitness, marketing a successful clothing line and helping other stars be at their addictions and has remained sober since his stint in rehab. Now, Jackson is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor, musician, and DJ. However, in 2015, he was arrested twice for stabbing two different people. The first time was in self-defense during a robbery and was dismissed. But the second time, he arrested for stabbing a woman after she allegedly caught him trying to steal her boyfriend's car. Jackson pleaded not guilty and found himself in rehab once again.

America's Sweetheart Of The Late '90s

While Amanda Bynes' acting career began at age seven with a Buncha Crunch TV commercial, she also appeared in various stage productions, including Annie, The Secret Garden and The Sound of Music. But Bynes got her big break in the late 1990s to the early 2000s, as a regular on Nickelodeon's All That.

Amanda's Sudden Fall From Grace

She starred in her own spinoff show titled The Amanda Show, and then had a four-year starring role in the WB sitcom, What I Like About You. She starred in several movies but announced in 2012 that she was retiring from acting. Unfortunately, that decision may have caused her complete undoing. For several DUIs and a couple hit-and-run accidents, she was sentenced to three years' probation. Shortly thereafter, she was arrested at home for possession of pot, tampering with evidence, and reckless endangerment. Bynes ended up in a mental health treatment center after starting a fire in front of a stranger's home. In 2014, after Bynes was released, she enrolled in the Fashion Institute for Design & Merchandising and has been looking healthier ever since.

He Fought His Parents For His Fortune

Taran Noah Smith became famous for his role as Mark Taylor on the popular sitcom Home Improvement. He was on the show until he was 16. After Home Improvement ended, Smith sued his parents to get control of his trust fund, which was worth $1.5 million. He claimed his parents had squandered his money on a new mansion.

Why Taran Noah Smith Hasn't Been Heard From

Unfortunately, cases of parental greed don't turn out well for the child. On February 1, 2012, Smith was arrested for possession of hash and driving under the influence. He was ordered to serve three years' probation and to attend a six-month drug counseling program. Since his trouble with the law, he has laid low and remained out of the spotlight.

Pin A Rose On Her Nose

Stephanie "How Rude!" Tanner joined the Full House cast and struggled for the next eight years. She was constantly trying to fit in at school and live some kind of a normal life. After Full House ended in 1995, Sweetin began drinking. In college, she partied a lot and she only had a .9 GPA.

Sweetin Knows She Screwed Up

In 2002, Sweetin married police officer Shaun Holguin, which is ironic because that is when she began experimenting with harder drugs, like ecstasy, cocaine, and crystal meth. Sweetin entered rehab after abusing drugs for three years. Sweetin and Holguin divorced in 2006, and Sweetin was married and divorced two more times. In 2009, she released her autobiography, unSweetined, to tell her story about her drug abuse and her struggle to fit in.

How Lost Boy Corey Haim Became Lost

Corey Haim was an '80s teen idol that rocketed to fame after appearing in 1987's The Lost Boys with Corey Feldman. By age 15, Haim was struggling to break away from his childhood of acting. This struggle led him to start taking drugs. This decision was the beginning of the end for Haim.

Haim's Ultimate Demise

Over the years, Haim entered (and exited) rehab at least 15 times. The therapy he sought out never helped him much. As a matter of fact, after a stay in rehab in 2000, he was put on prescription drugs, which he then began to abuse as well. Haim's addictions finally got the best of him on March 10, 2010, when he died of an apparent overdose and pneumonia.

The Other Half Of "The Two Coreys"

Corey Feldman was always together with Corey Haim; they were known as "The Two Coreys." In fact, that was the name of their reality show they starred in from 2007 and 2008. After appearing in several movies, Feldman also reached teen idol status with 1987's The Lost Boys. Additional popular movies he appeared in include Gremlins, Stand By Me, and most notably, The Goonies.

Fourteen-Year-Old Feldman Starts An Addiction

While filming Stand By Me at the ripe old age of 14, Feldman started drinking alcohol and smoking pot with River Phoenix. This dabbling turned into a full-blown addiction. His drugs of choice were cocaine, heroin, and sex. In 1990, he was charged with possession of cocaine and heroin. Then after two more drug arrests, he entered rehab in 1991 and stayed for ten months.

Adorable Andrew Keaton Did Not Live Up To His Name

If you are a fan of the TV series Family Ties, you probably look at Brian Bonsall and think Andrew Keaton, his character he played at age five. After the show ended in 1989, he appeared in some made-for-TV movies until he got to hit the big screen in the 1992 feature film Mikey. Soon after Mikey, he was cast as Alexander Rozhenko on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Real Life Gave Bonsall A Beating

After graduating high school in 2000, he was arrested for DUI and his license was suspended. Three years later, he was arrested again but this time on the suspicion of DUI. Three more years later, he was put on probation after assaulting his girlfriend. He also faced other charges of drug possession and assault. In December 2009, he attacked his best friend with a wooden stool while they were both drinking heavily. Bonsall was given two years of probation for felony menacing and third-degree assault.

Baby Barrymore Became Troubled Youth

Drew Barrymore is an incredibly popular and renowned actress but that doesn't mean she didn't struggle. Barrymore made her film debut in Altered States when she was five and a year later, she was cast as Gertie in Stephen Spielberg's blockbuster movie ET. Her rise to stardom at such a young age propelled her into trouble.

Her Career Picked Up And She Did The Same For Herself

At the age of nine, she became a regular fixture at Studio 54 in New York City tagging along with her hard-partying mother. Barrymore had a lot of experience with substances at a young age; she was smoking cigarettes when she was nine, drinking regularly by age 11, and smoking weed at 12. Then she started doing cocaine at 13. When she was 14, Barrymore entered rehab and attempted suicide. After completing rehab, she was legally emancipated at the age of 15. Barrymore cleaned up her act in her 20s and has become the successful actress we all know today.

A TV Dad With A Drug Smuggling Past

Most of us know Tim Allen from popular shows like Home Improvement and staple movies like The Santa Clause but he did have a rougher past. At the age of 25, Allen was arrested for possessing more than 650 grams of cocaine. His charge actually ended up going with a conviction and sentence to prison.

Years Later, He Finds Himself Behind Bars Again

After serving two and a half years, he was arrested again in 1997 for driving under the influence and was sentenced to a year's probation as well as a period of rehab for alcohol addiction. After his stint in rehab, he has remained on the straight and narrow and stars in his latest TV sitcom, Last Man Standing.

Remember Marky Mark?

Mark Wahlberg is a former model and rapper who has been and still continues to be an actor. He has stared in movies like Fear, Ted, The Fighter and also has a reoccurring role on the reality TV show, the Wahlburgers. But when he was 16, he has a very serious run-in with the law that almost ended his possibility of any type of future.

Mark Wahlberg Attempted Murder?!

When Wahlberg was 16, he attacked two Vietnamese men with a wooden stick, leaving one of them blind in one eye. He was initially charged with attempted murder but pleaded guilty to assault. He was sentenced to two years in prison, of which he served 45 days, and could have derailed his entire career.

One-Hit Wonders Lead To Vacuous Futures

Vanilla Ice (born Robert Matthew Van Winkle) is known as a one-hit-wonder for his song "Ice, Ice Baby." Since his one hit, all of his other ventures seem to have fallen flat and Vanilla Ice has had several brushes with the law. In 1991 he was arrested on a firearm charge when he threatened a homeless man with a pistol. But it doesn't end there.

His Ice Continued To Melt

He was arrested again in 2001 for assaulting his wife. He admitted to the attack, which included pulling out some of her hair. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to probation and family therapy. In 2008, he was arrested for a third time and charged with battery after another assault on his wife. He was released the next day when his wife confirmed that he'd only pushed her but he was ordered to stay away from his wife. Later that year, the case was dropped.

When People Swooned For Slater

Christian Slater made his first television appearance on the ABC soap opera One Life To Live when he was just eight. He also acted in popular films such as Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Untamed Heart, and True Romance. But Slater has experienced some sporadic trouble with the law.

Slater's Daliances With Alcohol And Assault

In 1989, Slater was arrested for drunk driving; he was then arrested again in 1997 for assaulting a girlfriend while intoxicated. That same year, he was arrested again after attempting to board a flight while in possession of a loaded gun. And in 2005, Christian was charged with third-degree sexual assault after grabbing a woman's backside on the street.

We Thought Stephen Fry Was A Good Guy

Stephen Fry's career in television began with the 1982 broadcasting of The Cellar Tapes and since then, his career has spanned across several types of media, from television to film and even radio. You may know him from movies like The Good Father or A Fish Called Wanda but he was also in Wilde when he played Oscar Wilde. But his crime spree occurred before his career began.

Fry Was Troubled From A Young Age

Fry's trouble began when he was quite young. During his adolescence, he was expelled from two schools. At the age of 17, he was arrested after stealing a family friend's credit card and charging three months of expenditures. He spent three months in prison. He hasn't experienced much trouble since then.

When A Child's Acting Career Ends

If you are a fan of the '80s films Stand and Deliver and Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, then you probably know Manuel Benitez who was known by his screen name of Mark Everett. He was a popular '80s child star, but his acting roles began to dwindle as he grew up and his life spun out of control. Since Benitez couldn't make it as an actor, he chose to make ends meet by being a drug dealer. In 2000, he was convicted of drug charges and carrying a concealed and loaded illegal firearm. He was sentenced to probation. But that was only the beginning of Benitez' horrifying end.

It All Culminated In A Police Standoff

In 2004, Benitez allegedly bludgeoned his girlfriend to death with a dumbbell after she ended their ten-year relationship. He took his son and fled the scene. Four years later, police received a call about a suspicious male with a young boy in El Monte, California. It was Benitez. A standoff ensued and gunfire was exchanged. Benitez was shot and killed. His son survived with only a bullet wound to the thigh.

He Could Have Been A Breakout Actor...

Lillo Brancato, Jr. is most well-known for playing the role of Calogero Anello in the 1993 Robert de Niro film A Bronx Tale. He also appeared on The Sopranos in 2005. Unfortunately, the popular HBO show and any promise of a successful acting career didn't deter him from a life of crime.

...But He Was Sentenced In A Murder Trial

In June of that year, Brancato was arrested in New York. The charge? Seventh-degree misdemeanor criminal possession of heroin. Later that same year, Brancato was arrested again in NYC, but this time, it was on suspicion of murdering an off-duty police officer. The father of Brancato's girlfriend was also arrested and convicted of first-degree murder. Brancato was arraigned for second-degree murder in 2008 but was found not guilty. He was found guilty of first-degree attempted burglary and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was released on parole in December 2013.

The Funny Guy's Future Was Not So Funny

Orlando Brown has always been pretty well-known as a talented and funny child actor. He had roles on Family Matters and The Jamie Foxx Show and recently, he played Eddie Thomas on the hit teen sitcom That's So Raven. But despite having a successful actor career, Brown sadly turned to a life of alcohol and drugs.

Orlando Brown Has Yet To Bounce Back

In 2007, he was arrested for possession of marijuana, and soon after was charged with DUI and drug possession. In 2011, he received another DUI charge and this time he had his pregnant girlfriend in the car. In May 2012, he was arrested for failing to complete the terms of his probation from his 2011 DUI. In 2012, he was locked up for failure to appear in court for his DUI arrest. He also received disturbing the peace and public intoxication charges in August 2014. Since this string of alcohol-related charges, Brown is looking to make a comeback. He received a role in the highly-anticipated film Straight Outta Compton.

Remember Moesha's Little Brother?

Marcus T. Paulk is best known for playing Myles Mitchell on the show Moesha in the mid to late 1990s. He is also a rapper and dancer and has appeared in films such as Roll Bounce, Another Cinderella, and Red Tails. Unfortunately, along with some of his successes also came some hardships.

He Wasn't Above The Law Either

Marcus T. Paulk's list of offenses looks like many of the other young actors on this list. He has been arrested for driving under the influence and subsequently charged with a DUI. And in 2013, he was charged with domestic violence. Allegedly, he beat his girlfriend at the time. It's been reported that he managed to get a plea deal instead of serving time in jail.

Amanda Peterson Chooses A New Path

Most famous for her role in the 1986 movie, Can't Buy Me Love, Amanda Peterson's career and life took a sad turn for the worse. In the '80s, she had a successful acting career, appearing in movies and TV shows. However, she decided not to pursue her career in entertainment in the '90s and left the industry.

Her New Path Led To A Downward Spiral...

When she left the entertainment industry, she went to college for a while and dabbled in modeling. Eventually, she married and had children, but unfortunately, that did not keep her from staying out of trouble. In the early 2000s became addicted to drugs, and was arrested many times for things like assault, DUI, and drug possession.

...And An Untimely Death

When she was only 43, Peterson died in her home in Greeley, Colorado. She was supposed to be having a dinner with her family, and when she did not show up, her family alerted authorities. Soon after, she was found dead. An autopsy discovered that she had died of an accidental drug overdose.

One Of The Most Adorable Star Wars Characters

In 1999, Jake Lloyd stole Star Wars fans' hearts all over the world in his role of young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode I "“ The Phantom Menace. At that time, he was only about 10 years old and had been acting for three years. He got his first role on the TV show ER, where he played a character named Jimmy Sweet.

Unfortunately, His Career Never Really Took Off

After his success in Star Wars, Lloyd's acting career didn't necessarily take off. He did go on to play Anakin Skywalker a few more times in various Star Wars video games. However, his career did not to seem to go anywhere else after that. To make matters worse, he was bullied by his peers.

Jake Lloyd Ended Up Behind Bars

The actor who played Anakin Skywalker went to the Dark Side, at least for a moment, in real life. In South Carolina in 2015, Lloyd was arrested after a high-speed car chase. The chase lasted 25 miles and ended when he crashed. He was reportedly not intoxicated but was charged with reckless driving, among other things, nonetheless.

Remember Lizzie McGuire's Best Friend?

Lalaine Vergara-Paras, known most often simply as Lalaine, is probably most famous for her role as Miranda Sanchez on the Disney Channel show Lizzie Mcguire. (This show aired in the early 2000s, not the '90s, but many '90s kids watched it so we'll let it slide.) Even though Lalaine is of Filipino descent, she played a Mexican-American role on the show.

Acting Isn't Lalaine's Only Skill

Lalaine may be best known for her role in Lizzie Maguire, but she also possesses another desirable show business skill: she is a singer. She released an album called Inside Story, in 2003. Around the same time, she also worked with Radio Disney and performed her songs mostly in Southern California.

She Also Possessed Another Thing...

It was reported, quietly, that in 2008, Lalaine Vergara-Paras was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. She reportedly pleaded guilty and enrolled in a rehab program. There are not many other facts available, as she managed to keep the whole episode largely under wraps. We hope she has since recovered.

Rob Lowe Was An '80s Heartthrob

One of the roles that pushed Rob Lowe towards the successful career he has today was his role as Sodapop Curtis in Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 film, The Outsiders. Not long after starring in this film alongside Patrick Swayze, Lowe went on to get roles in St. Elmo's Fire, About Last Night..., and Square Dance.

...But He Had A NSFW Secret!

In 1988, a tape was leaked of Rob Lowe having adult relations with a young woman. The problem was, she was a bit too young, at 16 years old. They were in Georgia at the time of the filming, and in Georgia, the age of consent is 16. So he wasn't breaking the law there. However, in Georgia at that time, the age of consent to be filmed was another story. She was not old enough to consent to being filmed in the act, hence the scandal.

When America Loved Britney

Britney Spears began her career at age 11 when she joined the 1990s revival of The Mickey Mouse Club, along with other stars such as Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and Ryan Gosling. After the show was canceled, Spears rose to fame in the late 1990s, becoming a mega pop-star with hits such as "Baby One More Time" and "Oops!.. I Did It Again." Young Britney soon became America's sweetheart.

But Growing Up In The Spotlight Meant She Was Followed Everywhere

As Britney continued to grow more successful, she tried to shed her innocent good-girl image, with more provocative songs and a sexier image. She soon married a backup dancer, Kevin Federline, after only three months of knowing him and subsequently took a break from her singing career to start a family. By the mid-2000s, things took a turn for the worse. In 2006, she was seen driving with her baby in her lap. The public criticized her for child endangerment, but she defended herself by saying she was protecting him from a dangerous paparazzi situation.

Then We Were Left With "2007 Britney"

The following year, after an aunt she was close to passed away, she checked into a drug rehab facility that she only stayed in for less than a day. The following night, she was seen shaving her own head at a Los Angeles hair salon. In the following months, she checked in and out of rehab and was even seen attacking a paparazzo's car with an umbrella after she had already asked for privacy. These were some of Britney's darkest public moments. In recent years, she has certainly cleaned up her act. She raised her two sons as a single mother, has a show in Vegas, and has even been a judge on The X Factor.

Remember When Aaron Invited You To His Party?

Originally known as Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter's little brother, young Aaron made a name for himself at age ten when he sang a cover of "Crush On You," when opening for his older brother's band. He signed his own record deal and came out with hits such as "I Want Candy" (another cover) and the ever-popular "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)."

We Guess He Partied A Little Too Hard

By the mid-2000s, he had reached his prime. Already having dated Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan, Aaron was visibly older (therefore no longer adorable) and wasn't popular as a popstar anymore. In 2008, he was arrested for speeding and for being in possession of marijuana. By 2009, he joined Dancing With The Stars (which is infamous for casting has-been celebrities) but at the same time began an addiction to Xanax, and was forced into rehab by his family. In 2013, he filed for bankruptcy after being over $3.5 million in debt.

He Can't Seem To Escape Trouble

In July 2017, Carter was arrested again in Georgia for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. However, the former child star singer appeared on Entertainment Tonight to defend himself, saying that he wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol and also revealing his deeper struggles. He said, "It hurts real bad because people don't know me, and I have no control over it, and this is the way I am... I don't need help. What I need is for people to understand that I'm human and that I make mistakes just like every other human in this world..." He has since also revealed that he is estranged from his brother Nick Carter of The Backstreet Boys and that he is bisexual.

Who Is Matthew Underwood?

Matthew Underwood is probably best known for his role as Logan Reese on the hit Nickelodeon show Zoey 101. Before that, he was a model and had small roles on other shows as a kid. In 2009, he had reportedly retired from acting. This came after Zoey 101 was canceled, which was probably due to the unexpected pregnancy of then-teenager Jamie-Lynn Spears, who was the star of the show and Britney Spears' younger sister.

He, Too, Got Caught Up in Drugs

After Zoey 101, the public hasn't seen much of Underwood, probably because of his "retirement." However, in 2012, he ran into trouble with the law when he was charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and delinquency of a minor. He was arrested later that year and served a month in jail on five accounts of probation violation. He must have frown up since then because as of 2016, he reportedly is a performing arts teacher at the "Academy of Entertainment" in Florida.
