See What Rob Lowe's Breathtaking $47 Million Mansion Looks Like Inside

Rob Lowe, best known for The Outsiders, Oxford Blues, and St. Elmo's Fire, has transitioned from an 80s teen idol to an adult actor who has starred in a number of hit shows and movies, including The West Wing and Parks and Recreation.

Lowe has one Primetime Emmy and six Golden Globe Award nominations, but those aren't the only things he has to show for his successful career.

The actor is also the owner of a 10,000-square-foot waterfront mansion in one of California most sought-after communities, Santa Barbara County.

Bustle

Lowe and his wife, jewelry designer Sheryl Berkoff, bought the land in 2005, and built their dream home from scratch with the help of a feng shui expert to create a peaceful atmosphere.

Located in the neighborhood of Montecito, the $47 million house is surrounded by other lavish mansions owned by some high profile people, including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, and former Vice President Al Gore.

"Rob and Sheryl have achieved the impossible, creating a home that lives with the conveniences of new construction but with character that rivals one of Santa Barbara's most architecturally significant historic estates. Oakview shows equal appreciation for history and modernity," said Suzanne Perkins, an agent from Sotheby's International Realty.

After more than a decade of living at the fancy abode, the couple have decided to let it go, and downsize.

The Lowes definitely have good taste, just take a look at the photos of the gorgeous property below:

The living room is just one of 20 rooms in the house, whose architecture was inspired by the Virginia countryside where Rob is from, according to Perkins.

"I've always been drawn to a historic, East Coast American aesthetic," the actor told Architectural Digest a few years ago.

The largest kitchen out of the four on the property is located in the main house, and it boasts reclaimed French oak floors, a Calcatta marble-top island, as well as a breakfast room with an automatic door.

Master Bedroom

As expected, the master bedroom is the largest of the six bedrooms in the house. It boasts large windows for a "light, airy feeling."

It features an en suite bathroom as well as walk-in closet that is probably larger than the average's person's bedroom.

The couple's children also had their own suites, complete with their own living rooms and en suite bathrooms.

There's no such thing as getting bored in this house as the Lowes have sections of their home dedicated to entertainment.

In addition to the theater, they also have an outdoor area to relax and enjoy a game of pool or table tennis.

The Veranda

Rob previously revealed that the veranda, which is shaded by one of two old oak trees on the property, is one of his favorite parts of the house.

There's a reflecting pool in the distance, and you'll most likely find the actor reading scripts near it.

The 3.4-acre estate also features huge rose and vegetable gardens, two outdoor fireplaces, fountains, a koi pond, and two observation decks. The grounds also include a garage bay that can fit up to seven cars.

"I always wanted that house where everybody wants to go," Rob told Architectural Digest.

It's hard to imagine why the couple would want to let go of a beautiful property that they worked so hard on.

Turns out, their children have all left home and they're ready to trade "Oakview" for smaller digs.

"With our boys now out of the house, we're looking forward to our next real estate adventure," the father of two sons, Matthew, 25, and John, 23, told Sotheby's International Realty.

There's no doubt that this house will sell quickly. Whoever gets to move in next is surely going to love living in this amazing house.
