I don't know why I'm so invested in the Duggars and how they choose to live their lives, but I definitely am. Maybe it's because I've been watching their show since it came on, so I feel like I somehow know the family, or maybe it's because I find them so odd I can't help but be fascinated by their every move. Either way, I often find myself reading up on the Duggars and their social lives at least once a week.
One of my favorite Duggars is Jana, who is the eldest girl of the bunch. I've always felt like she gets the short end of the stick a lot, being left to take care of the younger kids while her parents are away, or chaperoning the dates of her younger siblings to make sure no "funny business" happens.
But Jana, who is now 29 years old, has yet to have a courtship of her own (at least publicly) and is still living at home with the rest of the family. Fans have often wondered about Jana and whether or not she can be truly happy with this set up. After all, the Duggar women were brought up to believe that finding a man and having a family are the most important aspects in life, so how could Jana be happy knowing that her younger sisters are moving on while she's still "stuck" at home?
At one point a few days ago, fans thought that Jana might be on the verge of announcing a courtship, after the Duggar daughter got an Instagram account of her own. It sounds strange to think an Instagram account is really that big of a deal, but in the Duggar family, any form of social media is reserved for those who are engaged.
Jessa, one of Jana's younger sisters, posted a picture on Instagram saying "I love this pic of @janamduggar and our little niece! â¤ï¸â¤ï¸ It's been so lovely having @jingervuolo and Felicity in town for a little visit! Such sweet sister time. Come again soon"” 💞."
Immediately, fans began to speculate that Jana was in a relationship, with one person saying and announcement "must be coming soon [as] all the Duggars get on social media when they are ready to announce a courtship."
The logic checks out, but Jessa quickly jumped in to clarify.
"Haha! That's been merely coincidence for some," Jessa clarified. "Definitely not a prerequisite. She's not in a relationship. But if anyone is interested, please send all applications to me. I will check them out thoroughly," she joked.
Jana has spoken about her relationship status before, talking about putting her faith in God to let her know when the time is right.
I don't know what the next five years will look like. In some ways you've got hopes and dreams. "˜Maybe I'll meet the one and get married and have kids and stuff.'There have been different guys come along and ask, but they haven't been the right one. It's just one of those things. I'm not just out to get married to the first one who comes along.
It's this weird in between stage. I'm not a younger one, but then I'm not an older married one with kids. So [I'm] just being busy with where God has me right now.
