Congratulations are in order for Kate Hudson and boyfriend Danny Fujikawa who just welcomed a bouncing baby girl!
On October 2, the Golden Globe-winning actress gave birth to her daughter, who she named Rani Rose.
While it's a beautiful name in itself, the baby's moniker holds a particularly special meaning to the family.
"To name her after him is an honor."
In Hudson's October 3 Instagram announcement, she explained she and Fujikawa named their daughter "Rani" was in honor of Fujikawa's grandfather, Ron Fujikawa.
"We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa," Hudson wrote.
"Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor. Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send them right back."
Prior to his death in October 2012, Ron was a lawyer and co-founded the Kinsella, Boesch, Fujikawa & Towle law group, his obituary stated.
He was first married to Melissa Linehan, with who he had three sons, Danny, Michael and Braden. However, he spent the last 10 years of his life with his "devoted companion" Rebecca Foster (né Dyer).
Foster is the former wife of record producer David Foster, and shares three daughters, Sara, Erin and Jordan.
While it was through Hudson's friendship with the Fosters that she met Fujikawa, it took more than a decade for their romantic relationship to bloom.
"We've known each other for 15 years; he's my best friend's stepbrother," Hudson said on The Talk. "We kinda skipped through the part of knowing what the hiccups were. You kinda skip the part of going, 'Oh, you're like that?'"
The Fabletics co-founder said it took several years for their relationship to develop as Fujikawa is seven years younger than her, as well as the fact that she was "building a family and working very hard."
"In terms of family, I've known his family forever," Hudson added. "To have that connection is really powerful."
"Our little rosebud."
On Saturday, Hudson gave the public the first glimpse of Rani Rose on Instagram, and while it's difficult to tell which parent she'll look like, you can already tell how precious she already is.
She captioned the picture, "Our little rosebud," where Rani is seen sleeping in her nursery bed, swaddled in her blankets and wearing a little pink hat.
This is Fujikawa's first child and Hudson's third. She shares her seven-year-old son Bingham Hawn her with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy and 14-year-old son Ryder Russell with her former husband Chris Robinson.
"She's always wanted a daughter so this is really a dream come true," a source told PEOPLE. "And her big brothers are so excited "” they'll be so protective and sweet to her always."
