Kendall Jenner Thinks Life Is Harder For Her Because Of Her Name

Kendall Jenner, the second-youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner klan may be the only one without kids, but she's definitely not without opinions. Jenner, who is an international supermodel and spokesperson for Proactiv, gave an interview with Vogue Australia that opened a few eyes into the world of a superstar.

The interview addressed Jenner's relationship with NBA player Ben Simmons, as well as how she thinks her family name has affected her path to stardom. Jenner is the only one of her siblings that is either not married or without kids, and she says it's not necessarily in the cards for her right now. If it is, though, she has people to look up to.

"Maybe. Definitely not now, but maybe one day," Jenner said. "I got a glimpse of how my sisters dealt with [the attention] and it's cool to learn from that."

Jenner has been seeing Simmons for at least a year, even though it's been on and off. You may not have heard too much about it, or even seem them together for that matter, but that's on purpose.

"For me, a lot of things are very special and very sacred, like my friends and relationships, and I personally think that bringing things into the public makes everything so much messier," Jenner admitted. "I'm very young and right now I feel like relationships aren't always super-certain and I don't want to bring too much attention to something if you don't really know long term [what it's going to be]."

It's interesting to hear Jenner's opinion on public relationships, considering how public everything in her family's life is, but she's made it very clear that it's not fair to have it all aired out in the open.

"A relationship is only meant to be between two people, and the second you make it the world's business is when it starts messing with the two people mentally. Like once everyone is let in, you're letting all these opinions into your relationships, and I don't think that's fair," she said.

Being the last one in the family to get married can lead to a bit of pressure, but Jenner isn't worried about self-imposing deadlines on herself. If things are meant to happen, they will, but there's no use forcing anything.

"I feel like once you do [that], it's just completely ingenuine, and you think that you have to be in a certain place when you don't have to be," she noted. "Everyone has their own path and their own way of letting the cards fall. Your 20s are for messing up and figuring it out."

While many people assume that Jenner's link to the Kardashian name is the reason she got where she is, the model doesn't agree. She credits her parents for raising her right.

"I've always been the person to prove [critics] wrong, even when I was younger," she said. "I've always been a hard worker: that's in my blood. My parents raised me and my little sister to be that way and the rest of my sisters, too. A lot of people assumed that because I came from a "˜name' that it was a lot easier for me to get to where I got, but actually it's the completely opposite."

Of course, modelling doesn't always last forever. Even though Jenner is only 23 years old, it might make sense for her to consider a backup plan should her modelling days come to an end. To her, however, that's not necessary.

"I don't think I necessarily needed to have [a backup plan.] Anything I do, I always want to be 100% in it and know I want to be doing it," she said. "Most of the time [in this business] it's all about new faces and it happens really fast."

According to Jenner, the industry is all about being the "it" person, which can often require a lot of work. She's got lofty goals to be around for a while, though.

"They kind of grab onto that person and then all of a sudden you take off and you're doing a bunch of shows and you're getting a bunch of jobs," she adds. "But my goal with everything is always longevity. In this industry specifically, it can be really challenging to maintain, so it's always a work in progress."

The interview was interesting to me, especially Jenner's take on how her relationship is just for her and her boyfriend. That being said, I don't agree that she's got it harder because of her name. People will work for years to try and make it as far as Jenner has just by the time they're 30, but for her to be walking international runways at just 23 years old, there's no way her famous family didn't expedite that process.
