Krispy Kreme's New Doughnut Just Saved Valentine's Day

Sweethearts, everyone's favorite romantic candy, won't be around this Valentine's Day for the first time in 30 years. The company that makes them, the New England Confectionery Company, went bankrupt and although they've been purchased by Spangler Candy Co, production won't be up and running for everyone's favorite manufactured holiday.

Don't let that news break your heart though because a hero has emerged to save Valentine's Day.

Krispy Kreme is taking advantage of Sweethearts' absence by making their delicious doughnuts into tasty tokens of love.

"Finding the right word can be like, I don't know....hard. But eating a doughnut is easy," Krispy Kreme's chief marketing officer, Dave Skena, said in a statement. "So we printed the right words on the doughnuts for you so you can't mess this up."

The delicious doughnut maker will have heart-shaped doughnuts with adorable messages of love like: "Be Mine" "Crazy 4U" and a modern expression of affection "DM Me."

The doughnuts will come in several different flavors, which is an improvement upon Sweethearts. You can expect your doughnuts to now be filled with Cake Batter, Strawberries and Kreme, Raspberry, or Chocolate Kreme.

You'll be able to plan ahead too, as the doughnuts will be on sale from January 30 right through the 14th of February.

The way to any person's heart is through their stomach, so keep this in mind when you're planning a romantic date.

Krispy Kreme seems to love giving out free things as well, so if you're a member of their Krispy Kreme Rewards program, you'll get a free "conversation heart" doughnut with any purchase. The catch is it must be on Wednesday, Feb 6.
