Lions Kill and Eat 'Poacher', Leaving Only His Head

bbc.com

In a gruesome case of karma, a suspected poacher was mauled to death and eaten by a pack of lions in a national park in South Africa. He is believed to have entered the park on foot, late at night, in order to catch some of the animals unawares. Instead, he was attacked by the pack and was in the process of being eaten until the lions were scared off by gunshots.

Police found only the victim's head and some remains along with a loaded rifle which they suspect he was using in his poaching activities. They are still trying to establish his identity.

Despite their beauty and ferocity, lions are still being killed in large numbers by poachers, with their body parts often used in local traditional medicines.

But this isn't the first time lions have turned the tables on their poachers.

Another poacher was killed in South Africa while his friends were forced to take refuge in a tree after they tried to hunt down a lion in 2015.

A year later, a group of poachers in Zimbabwe bit off more than they could chew when they stumbled upon a pack of twenty lions who were very angry at being disturbed. They promptly mauled five of the poachers to death leaving only three men to run to safety.

And in the strangest instance of collaborative justice, a poacher was trampled to death by an elephant and then eaten by a pack of lions after he and his friends snuck into a park to set hunting traps.

Do you think this was a fitting punishment for the poacher?
