Sometimes you need to have a little fun in life, and Macaulay Culkin knows all about that. The former child star has had his fair share of...well, let's call it excitement in life, and at one point it seemed like he might never recover from the wrong path he had chosen.
Thankfully, though, the home Home Alone star righted the ship, and he's been back in the public eye looking happy and healthy. But just because he's living a clean lifestyle, doesn't mean Culkin can't still have fun.
Culkin decided that he wanted fans to help him choose a new middle name. His current one is Carson, although he didn't seem to remember that.
"My middle name is something dumb. Larry? Orange? Honestly, I can't even remember it," Culkin wrote on his website. "So I asked you all to send in some better options so I can go down to the court house and explain to a judge why I need to change my middle name to something cool. You sent in hundreds of suggestions and after going through them all, these were my favorite five."
Those five were: Shark Week, TheMcRibIsBack, Publicity Stunt. Kieran, and Macaulay Culkin. Yes. Macaulay Culkin.
Culkin also gave a pretty good reason for people to vote:
This poll is open till Christmas Eve so I can wake up to a wonderful present from everyone. Sure, I might have gold plated watercraft, and chrome plated invisibility cloaks, but all I want for Christmas is a new middle name.And then you can be all "Oh, you got your wife a beautiful portrait of your family? Well, I chose Macaulay Culkin's Middle Name." And they will cry and cry. Don't be the kind of person who cries on Christmas. Be the kind of person that chooses my new middle name.
Fans were allowed to vote from the five options provided, and if you thought common sense would prevail and the name Kieran would be chosen, you've clearly never been on the internet. Macaulay Culkin's fans voted, and his new middle name is...Macaulay Culkin.
"Merry Christmas to me, from all of you!" Culkin wrote on Twitter. "My new middle name has been chosen. You voted and the winner is clear. In 2019 my new legal name will be: Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. It has a nice ring to it (if you like my name)."
It's pretty funny when you think about it, and it's a bit of harmful humor. Why not make your middle name something crazy? Especially with the childhood Culkin had, I can hardly imagine he cares about the middle name is parents gave him.
Seeing Culkin interact with fans in such a light-hearted way to awesome, and it seems like he's finally embracing his fame. Just recently he appeared in an ad for Google, reprising his role as Kevin McAllister from Home Alone.
