Budding Florida superstar Trinity Thomas made sure she was noticed at the match against rival Louisiana State University when she scored her perfect 10.
Trinity is currently the only member of U.S. Senior National Team who is also on a 2020 NCAA roster. This is her fourth year earning a U.S. team spot. As a freshman last year, Thomas was a five-time All-American, the 2019 SEC Freshman of the Year, and the Southeastern Conference’s vault champion. The freshman was also a NACGC Scholastic All-American, and all the while, she’s eyeing the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan with USA gymnastics.
In an interview earlier this year with ESPN Trinity said “Well, I really want to get a 10 this year.”
It took Thomas three weeks to accomplish that goal.
Performing in front of a sold-out crowd at the O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Florida, Trinity nailed it.
"It literally means everything because that’s what you’re working for, to get that perfect 10," said Thomas to GMA. "And it’s not easy and takes a lot of dedication. I’ve been working to get that for so long."
This was her first perfect score.
Thomas came close to scoring two 10's at the match with a floor routine that earned her a 9.975.
We will be watching for her - the future looks bright!
