People Are 'Dropping' Food In The Streets, But It's Not What You Think

<div><p>Food waste is one of the biggest problems facing North America and Europe today. But what if we could solve it by sharing our leftovers?</p><p>One solution is to install a community fridge. The idea from a group of creative thinkers at the <a href="http://brixton.impacthub.net/">Brixton Impact Hub</a> in the United Kingdom. These innovative minds saw how much good food was being wasted and decided to do something about it. &nbsp;</p><p>The People's Fridge is the first of its kind in London, UK. According to the <a href="https://issuu.com/biocollectors/docs/bio_collectors_report_2016_screen">Bio Collector's Report</a>, 15 million tonnes of food and drink are wasted in the UK each year. That amount of food could fill over 70,000 jumbo jets.</p><p>Similarly, <a href="http://www.feedingamerica.org/about-us/how-we-work/securing-meals/reducing-food-waste.html?referrer=https://www.google.ca/">Feeding America</a> estimates that 70 billion pounds of food is wasted in America every year.
