People Are Making Every Book Better By Adding This One Sentence

Think of your favorite book. Do you know the first sentence? There are a lot of famous first lines in books, but not as many people remember the second. That's because they haven't used this guy's trick.

Marc Laidlaw tweeted a pretty innocent observation not expecting much, but the internet pounced and became obsessed with this idea.

His theory is that "the first line of any story can be improved by making sure the second line is, "And then the murders began."

Think about it, he is absolutely right. Almost any book becomes so much more exciting if that is your second line.  The internet went nuts over this and started calling it "Laidlaw's Rule" and shared what they found.

Try this with your favorite book and share the results!
