You've seen the tabloid headlines: big, bright, attention-grabbing claims that your favorite celebrity couple are about to split up.
Since their marriage in 2008, no couple has faced as many of these rumors as Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi.
Now, Portia is finally coming clean about the stories, and what they really say about her relationship with the talk show host.
A Hollywood love story
DeGeneres first met the Arrested Development star backstage at a VH1 awards show in 2005, and it was apparently love at first sight.
The talk show host said de Rossi "took my breath away."
Even though de Rossi was in a relationship when she met DeGeneres, the pair officially got together just months later, and have been inseparable ever since.
But de Rossi has hinted that they don't quite have a perfect relationship.
"It's hard having a relationship that's public," she told the Advocate.
"It's hard living a life that's somewhat public, and hard when you put that life together with someone who is so famous and so loved and admired. It's also real exciting."
Most recently, de Rossi showed her love for DeGeneres by getting her an incredible 60th birthday gift, a gorilla sanctuary in Rwanda.
"All of it was a complete surprise, which was very difficult. It was so difficult to keep it from her," de Rossi told Us Weekly about the gift.
"She's so observant. I literally had to take my email address off all of our shared devices at home."
"Because I knew that if she saw an email coming in from Africa, it would be all over. She would put it all together."
"I will never know what's tearing my marriage apart"
Ever since their wedding day in 2008, de Rossi and DeGeneres have had to fend off nasty divorce rumors.
DeGeneres even mentioned finding a tabloid with the story about her "upcoming divorce" ripped out.
"I will never know what's tearing my marriage apart," she joked on her talk show.
Normally, the couple don't discuss these ugly rumors publicly. But de Rossi spoke her mind about them in a new interview, and she was surprisingly positive.
"The divorce rumors came and then we really knew the perceptions had changed," she said.
"I'm not kidding. I know it sounds ridiculous, but when that started happening I thought, "˜Oh, now we're finally accepted.' We get the same ---- as every celebrity couple."
De Rossi said she even gets a laugh out of some of the really silly stories.
"I thought, "˜Wow, this is great that I'm pregnant, not pregnant, divorced, not divorced,' whatever. That means there is an acceptance for this."
But for the record, no, Ellen and Portia are not breaking up, and the stars caution fans not to believe everything they read.
DeGeneres spoke to People herself about these persistent rumors:
"The truth is, and this is corny, I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do."
"She surprises me all the time. It's what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you.
