Actor Tries To Rely On A Supporting Role In A 20 Year Old Movie To Get Out Of A DUI Charge

Fame can't give you everything, and it definitely doesn't make you above the law.

Some famous celebrities had to learn this the hard way, such as Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Meg Gibson who had been arrested for driving under the influence in the past.

Perhaps one of the most notable arrests occurred when Reese Witherspoon got caught in Atlanta for a DUI in 2013. She yelled at officers, "Do you know who I am? You're about to find out ..." Once she sobered up, she confessed that her actions and words were a "mistake" and "humiliating."

Take a look at a video of her arrest.

When actor Christopher McDonald, who played arrogant golfer Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore, was arrested last week for suspicion of a DUI, he hoped for a different fate.

The 62-year-old actor was reportedly partying at Oktoberfest and later ran off the highway and crashed into a gas meter in LA.

This isn't the first time McDonald was arrested on alcohol related charges; he was charged with a DWI in 2013, but this time it was a little different.

McDonald told the cop he was Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore, hoping the officer would let him off easy after that tidbit of riveting information. Unfortunately for McDonald, the cops were not impressed that he starred in the popular Adam Sandler movie, and took him to jail until he sobered up.

Here's a scene from McDonald acting in Happy Gilmore.

It's unclear how much of a breakdown the actor had during his arrest, but it sure won't beat the conceited Shooter McGavin.
