Woman Misdiagnosed With "Stress" When She Had A Massive Brain Tumor

When you feel like there's something wrong with your body, the initial response is to go and see a trusted health professional.

No one goes to see a doctor to take their advice with a grain of salt. You simply assume that after decades of study and practice, they're well-equipped to diagnose and treat you.

Unfortunately, stories of people getting misdiagnosed are being shared more often.

People are taking to social media and news outlets to share their stories, and each one will leave you shocked and confused.

"They said it was just hormones and I was being overly-dramatic"

Chelsea Yeomans claims she was almost left paralyzed if she didn't do her own research to figure out what was going on with her body after doctors misdiagnosed her with "stress."

The now 23-year-old woman suffered from migraines and dizzy spells for a decade, and when she was studying for her exams, she felt worse.

She said doctors told her that the pain was caused by "hormones and being overly-dramatic."

Chelsea was sent away with pain medication, but she was convinced her symptoms meant something more serious.

"No one other than my mom believed me that it was more serious. It was a very hard time," she said. "I Googled my symptoms and it said I had a brain tumor and it could be cancerous."

When Chelsea reportedly pleaded doctors to inspect her further, they discovered she had a massive tumor the size of an orange growing on the left side of her brain.

"I was frustrating that it took so long to be diagnosed," she said. "My GP apologized for not pushing it earlier. The reception at the GP surgery wouldn't take me seriously "” one receptionist told me they were fully booked but they weren't."

She had 90% of the tumor removed, which ended up affecting her memory. Unfortunately, she lost the ability to continue her job as a hairdresser.

"I was two weeks away from being paralyzed from the pressure on my spinal cord. It was lucky they got to it when they did," she added.

She believes doctors dismissed her serious symptoms because she was studying for exams, which is usually seen as a stressful period in a student's life.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened...

One mother was told she was being hormonal for months until it was too late. The misdiagnosis cost her her life. Read more about the story here.
