<div><p>It sounds like the start of a bad comedy movie: after a <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/14/us/northeast-winter-weather/index.html">freak snowstorm blanketed the east coast</a>, two congressmen were left stranded in Texas. With no other way for the two of them to get to Washington for their first votes the next day, the two agreed to rent a car and drive there together.</p><p>Or course, one just happened to be a Democrat - Beto O'Rourke from El Paso, Texas - while the other was a Republican - Will Hurd from San Antonio.</p><p>Together they put aside their differences for a 1,600 mile journey filled with laughs, learning and doughnuts. </p><amp-iframe sandbox="allow-scripts allow-same-origin" layout="responsive" frameborder="0" height="9" width="16" src="https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/c/embed/52341746-0966-11e7-bd19-fd3afa0f7e2a"></amp-iframe><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --> </p><p></p><p>While the pair don't see eye to eye on everything, O'Rourke says they learned to "disagree without being disagreeable" over the course of the trip.</p><p>Of course there were lots of chances for them to get to know each other along the way.
