David Cassidy's Son Will Inherit A Lot More Than He Expected From The Actor

The Partridge Family star David Cassidy's death has been followed by a lot of controversy.

Shortly after the 67-year-old entertainter's passing on November 21, 2017, it was revealed that the former teen heartthrob had plenty of family drama, mostly brought on by his alcoholism.

Although family members he had feuds with, including his brother Patrick and his estranged daughter, Katie, surrounded him in his final moments, it seems like not all of their issues were cleared up before he took his final breath.

Court documents later revealed that the singer and actor left Katie out of his will.

Despite the fact that Katie, whose mother is model Sherry Williams, and David did put their differences aside before his death, at the time when the will was drafted, they had no relationship with each other.

"Because I didn't raise her, I didn't have to parent her," David told People in 2009. He added, "I wasn't her father. I was her biological father but I didn't raise her. She has a completely different life. [But] I'm proud of her. She's very talented."

Katie, an actress known for her roles in television shows like Arrow and the Melrose Place reboot, was brought up by her mother and stepfather, Richard Benedon.

"I didn't meet my father until I was in the fourth grade," she once revealed in an interview. "The world doesn't know that. Not because I'm hiding it, it just hasn't been discussed. My biological father and I had a really good relationship at one point. He was one of my close friends and gave me wonderful advice."

It's still unclear why the starlet and her father never got on, but it's been speculated that it's because David was too busy with his career and never got to spend much time with his daughter.

Since they've been making up for lost time towards the end of his life, it's entirely possible that he would've amended the will had he not passed away so soon.

Katie, 31, refused to address the inheritance snub, but she did write a heartfelt tribute upon her dad's passing.

"Words cant express the solace our family's received from all the love & support during this trying time," she wrote. "My father's last words were 'So much wasted time.' This will be a daily reminder for me to share my gratitude with those I love as to never waste another minute....thank you."

David named his 26-year-old son, Beau, whom he had with his third wife Sue Shifrin, as the benefactor of his entire estate.

"(A)ny references to his "˜child or children' are only to Beau and not to Katie ... It is my specific intent not to provide any benefits hereunder to Katherine Evelyn Cassidy and/or any descendant of Katherine Evelyn Cassidy," read the document created in 2004.

It was initially believed that David only left behind a tiny fortune, including some assests and $150,000 in music memorabilia that he collected throughout his career. His three half-siblings were to inherit them.

Turns out, the reports have been wrong, and according to The Blast, Beau will be inheriting way more than he expected.

He will not only be getting his late father's $200,000 estate, he is also the beneficiary of his $450,000 retirement plan as well as his $1 million life insurance policy.

All in all, Beau will be getting a total of $1.68 million, contrary to previous reports that he was only getting $150,000. That's 10 times more than he thought!

Money isn't the only thing Beau has inherited from his father. He is also following in his footsteps in the entertainment industry. He is a musician and is currently working with his cousins, Jack Cassidy and Cole Cassidy, in a new band called The Rivalry.

He used to be the lead singer of a local Boston band, the Fates, while he was attending college.

Although money won't replace his father, it's nice to know that he has something to fall back on if times get hard.

Do you think it's fair that David left all of his money to Beau only? Let us know!
