"Counting On" Star Fired From TV Show After Controversial Comments

TLC has just cut ties with one of the stars of its biggest shows, and it could mean the end of the Duggars's long run on television.

The Duggars have been a staple on TLC since 2008. Their show, 19 Kids and Counting drew in millions of fans who wanted to see how a family of 21 could possibly live comfortably with so many kids around. The family lives by a strict set of rules and values, which often fall under extreme criticism from outsiders. The women aren't allowed to wear pants, and when they do it causes an uproar.

More recently, Joy-Anna Duggar has been accused of having sex before marriage, as people are noticing her growing baby bump doesn't add up with the timeline provided by the family.

Plus, of course, there was the whole Josh Duggar molestation incident, which is what got 19 Kids and Counting cancelled in the first place. But now, it's another member of the family who is causing problems. This time, however, it's not just fans who are outraged.

Derick Dillard, more well-known as Jill Duggar's husband on Counting On, has been fired from the family's TLC show after making derogatory comments towards another network star.

TLC runs a show called I Am Jazz, which follows 17-year-old Jazz Jennings as she lives her life as a transgender teen, transitioning from male to female. The show has been one of TLC's most viewed show on the network and is doing incredible work for the LGBTQ community.

However, Derrick Dillard is not one of those people on board with the show...or Jazz Jennings at all, for that matter.

"What an oxymoron... a 'reality' show which follows a non-reality. 'Transgender' is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it's ordained by God," Derick wrote on Twitter in August.

After Jennings tweeted about cyber-bullying, Derick continued his rampage.

"I pity Jazz, 4 those who take advantage of him in order 2 promote their agenda, including the parents who allow these kinds of decisions 2 be made by a child.

It's sad that ppl would use a juvenile this way.

Again, nothing against him, just unfortunate what's on TV these days."

Dillard claims he "never bullied anyone" and "just said [he] didn't agree with what is being propagated on TV."

Jennings, who is 11 years younger than Dillard, chose to take the high road in the whole situation.

"In the face of constant ignorance and hatred I prefer to disregard negative opinions and continue moving forward with love," she wrote on Twitter.

Now, TLC has announced they will not be inviting Derick back to Counting On.

"We want to let our viewers know that Derick Dillard has not participated in Counting On for months and the network has no plans to feature him in the future.

We want to reiterate that Derick's personal statements do not reflect the views of the network.

TLC is proud to share the story of Jazz Jennings and her family and will continue to do so."

The family has not directly responded to TLC's announcement, but Dillard posted this image on Instagram.
