How To Tell When Your Loved One's Spirit Is Trying To Reach Out To You

Here's the thing, I will admit that I am usually a skeptic when it comes to all things paranormal. I've never really believed in Ouija boards, I have never had a psychic reading, and I don't know that I've had any ghost encounters myself.

However, people I know and trust have claimed that they have happened to them more than once in their lives. Maybe it means they are more in tune with the spiritual plane, maybe I am just ignoring the obvious, or maybe there just aren't any ghosts who want to talk to me.

While I remain skeptical, a lot of other people have moments where they swear their loved ones are trying to reconnect with them after they have passed away. There are several ways that they may be doing it, but there are some that are more common.

If you've always wondered how your loved ones are doing after they've passed on, try and think back to if you've noticed some of these bizarre occurrences, because apparently these things mean that they are still with you.

Dreams of them

This is probably the most obvious way that shows that your loved one is trying to communicate with you.

It's said that while you sleep your subconscious mind becomes more receptive to the vibrations and energies of the spiritual world, meaning they can find a way in a bit easier.

Then they can send you subtle messages by influencing your dreams. So when you remember that they were there, try to pay close attention to the things that happen in your dream and see if you can pick out any themes or notable objects. You can look those up in dream dictionaries to see what they are trying to say.

Patterns in songs

You know how when you're listening to the radio and it seems like song after song is tailored to your interests or all based on the same theme? Well, that could mean that your loved one is trying to send you a quick message.

They are just trying to let you know that they are thinking of you, and the subtle song choices are an easy way to do it.

Unexpected acts of kindness or gifts

You know when you're having a horrible day and you arrive home expecting to just spend the rest of your evening in a bit of a funk, but then you get a surprise phone call from a friend, or your partner brings home a special treat for you and you suddenly feel a million times better?

Well, that's probably because someone is looking down on you, who knew you needed some support even if you couldn't admit it, and made sure it happened.

Your pets are reacting

You know how sometimes a cat seems to be staring at nothing, or your dog just gets up and starts wagging their tail even though they are just staring at the wall?

Well, it's suspected that animals are much more in tune with the spiritual world than we are, and when your pets start acting strangely, it's because a spirit is actually in the room with you.

You get a whiff of something familiar

Smells are one of the strongest types of memories you can have. Whether it's someone's perfume, their shampoo, the type of laundry detergent they use, or even just a type of food they like, the smells you associate with them are forever etched into your brain.

When you suddenly smell something that reminds you of a loved one, it means they are there with you in spirit.

When something isn't where you left it

While most of the time your loved ones try to communicate with you in nice ways, there are some things that they can do that may seem a little bit annoying.

Spirits are often reported to move things around a lot, especially if it's something they used a lot. So if you go to find your mother's necklace and it's not where you left it, it may be because her spirit moved it on you.

Sudden thoughts

When you spend some quiet time to yourself, you may find that your thoughts start to run wild. A lot of us spend most of our time drowning them out with music, TV, or videos, but if we actually spend some time with our thoughts we may experience something kind of magical.

It happens in subtle ways, like when you are driving and you suddenly get the thought that you should slow your speed down. Little thoughts like that are your loved ones looking out for you. Their spirits start to act as your conscious.

While it's hard to lose a loved one, it's nice to know that there is a chance that you can find little ways to reconnect with them as you continue on.
