<div><p>Getting older is hard for most people, but it's especially challenging to do it alone. </p><p>For one 90-year-old California woman, she took a leap of faith after finding herself alone day-after-day. </p><p>Last week, Marleen Brooks found an unexpected note on her door when she came home. </p><p>The letter was absolutely heartbreaking. </p><p>"Mrs.?" the note started.</p><p>"Would you consider to become my friend. I'm 90 years old- live alone. All my friends have passed away. I'm so lonesome and scared."</p><div><amp-facebook data-href="https://www.facebook.com/FrankSomervilleKTVU/posts/1466824286714227:0" layout="responsive" height="600" width="640"></amp-facebook></div><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p>"Please I pray for someone," the note finished. It was signed Wanda. </p><p>Marleen posted the note with the caption: "Came home to this note from a lady that lives down the street from me. 😢 Makes my heart sad, but on the bright side it looks like I will be getting a new friend."</p><p>Later that day Marleen and her best friend went over to Wanda's house to meet her. And she was over the moon when we came over," Marleen said. </p><p>According to Marleen, Wanda has 3 sons- one who passed away from cancer last year and 2 who live far away. She is on oxygen and has congestive heart failure, osteoporosis and other ailments. </p><p>"I hope you didn't think I was stupid for writing you, but I had to do something. Thank you so much for coming over. I've lived here for 50 years and don't know any of my neighbors," Wanda told Marleen.</p><p>"I also made sure she knew she can call us at anytime and that I'll be back to spend time with her! I'm sure Wanda and I will have some great times," Marleen concluded.</p><p><strong>This story serves as a reminder to consider your elderly neighbors that may be left alone. While it may be an hour out of your day, a visit could completely make theirs! </strong></p><p></p><p></p><p></p></div>
