Anthony Bourdain's Final 'Parts Unknown' Trailer Is Here And You'll Need Some Tissues

After his tragic death, Anthony Bourdain's fans will have one more chance to witness his last ride around the world in the final season of his food and travel show Parts Unknown.

The chef-turned-TV host was in the midst of filming episodes of the 11th season in Strasbourg, France when he passed away due to suicide on June 8.

"It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain," CNN said in a statement at the time. "His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."

Bourdain and CNN's relationship began in 2013, after the news network "took a risk" by giving him a shot at his own show.

The series, which brought unfamiliar cultures to American television, became one of the network's most highly-rated programs, and earned won multiple awards, including a Peabody and Emmys.

Bourdain received two posthumous Emmy Awards for outstanding writing for a nonfiction program and another for outstanding informational series or special at the 2018 ceremony, which took place on September 9. Lydia Tenaglia, executive producer of the show, accepted the awards on his behalf, and delivered a moving speech.

"Tony was nominated for this nonfiction writing Emmy many times. It was the one award he secretly coveted but it had always eluded him. So it's with a sense of bittersweetness that I accept it tonight on his behalf," she said. "Tony is truly off on a trip to Parts Unknown now. I wish we could be there to shoot it, I'm sure he would have written the hell out of that episode."

After a night of celebrating Bourdain's legacy, CNN released the emotional trailer for the 12th season, and announced that the final season of the show will air later this month.

The first episode will follow the late chef as he travels through Kenya with comedian Kamau Bell. According to People, this will be the only episode to include the host's narration.

In the trailer, the host can be seen eating, laughing and even getting a tattoo while a voice narrates: "Travel can lift you up, and it can break your heart. When the journey leaves its mark, it takes something with you and you leave something good behind."
