It's Been 30 Years Since We Saw "The Lost Boys" But Now They're Coming Back

Warner Bros

Sometimes a movie so perfectly reflects an era that it's impossible not to think of one without thinking of the other. The Lost Boys managed to do that. It was like a horror version of The Breakfast Club.

The hair, the jackets, the earrings. Everything about The Lost Boys was just so totally 80s. It wasn't just the costume design. The movie actually had a huge impact on pop culture at the time. It helped propel Keifer Sutherland to stardom. He's become one of Hollywood's most recognizable names (and voices) for three decades. It also introduced "the two coreys" to each other.

The friendship of Corey Feldman and Corey Haim would become one of Hollywood's most tragic tales, but they made an indelible mark on the era.

The Lost Boys became a cult classic and performed well at the box office. Along with St. Elmo's Fire it helped launch the career of Joel Schumacher, who made several Hollywood blockbusters, including two Batman movies and Phantom of The Opera.

Even with the success, The Lost Boys never got a true sequel. There was an attempt, in 2008, called The Lost Boys: The Tribe, but like many horror sequels from the early 2000s, it's better forgotten.

Since it seems that TV and movie producers have finally figured out how to properly reboot cherished stories, we couldn't be more excited for the big announcement from CW.

The Lost Boys is coming back.

Warner Bros

The network will be rebooting the iconic movie in TV form. They'll be working with Rob Thomas, who is best known for his work on Veronica Mars. Since it's CW we can expect plenty of teen drama, angst, and broodiness. Which is exactly what we love about the movie.

It wasn't all smooth-sailing for the project. It was actually conceived back in 2016, but the network never ordered a pilot.

Reports say that the network was always excited about the project, but one thing or another just didn't line up.

There have been a slew of reboots lately, including the recently announced Netflix version of Unsolved Mysteries. We'll be excited to see what the "newlook" 80s will be like!
